Bang Bang Salmon is a flavorful and easy-to-make baked salmon dish featuring a spicy-sweet sauce made with mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey. The salmon fillets are seasoned with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, then baked to perfection and topped with a creamy, tangy Bang Bang sauce. Garnished with fresh chives, this dish pairs wonderfully with rice or your favorite sides for a quick weeknight dinner or impressive seafood meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Salmon:

  • 4 salmon fillets (about pounds), skin on
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Bang Bang Sauce:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (or more to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Season the Salmon: Drizzle olive oil over the salmon fillets and rub gently to coat all sides. In a small bowl, mix together paprika, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper, then sprinkle evenly over the salmon fillets.
  3. Make the Bang Bang Sauce: In another bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey until you achieve a smooth sauce. Divide this sauce in half, using one portion for brushing on the salmon before baking.
  4. Coat the Salmon: Brush half of the Bang Bang sauce evenly over the seasoned salmon fillets to infuse flavor before baking. Keep the remaining sauce to serve later.
  5. Bake the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet, making sure to leave space between each fillet. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, checking for doneness starting at 6 minutes to avoid overcooking. The salmon is ready when it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F.
  6. Serve: Transfer the baked salmon to serving plates. Drizzle the reserved Bang Bang sauce over the top and garnish with freshly chopped chives for added flavor and color. Serve immediately alongside rice or your preferred side dishes.

Notes

  • To test doneness, the salmon should flake easily with a fork and have an internal temperature of 145°F.
  • You can adjust the heat level by adding more or less sriracha according to your taste preference.
  • For a crispier skin, you can sear the salmon fillets skin-side down in a hot skillet for 2-3 minutes before baking.
  • Store leftover sauce separately in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • This recipe pairs well with steamed vegetables, quinoa, or a simple green salad.
