Shrimp
- 12 oz raw extra large shrimp
Dip Sauce
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp sweet Thai chili sauce
- 1 tbsp sriracha
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
Mix-ins & Garnish
- 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
- 2 tbsp chopped green onion
- Steam the Shrimp: Place a steamer basket over simmering water and steam the shrimp for about 10 minutes or until they turn white and reddish-pink and curl into a C shape. Avoid overcooking by removing them from heat before the tips and tails touch.
- Prepare the Sauce: While the shrimp cool, combine mayonnaise, sweet Thai chili sauce, sriracha, and rice vinegar in a small bowl, mixing until smooth.
- Cool and Chop Shrimp: Allow the steamed shrimp to cool completely. Remove tails if needed, then chop the shrimp into small pieces suitable for mixing into the dip.
- Combine Shrimp and Sauce: Mix the chopped shrimp thoroughly with the prepared sauce until fully combined.
- Add Bread Crumbs and Green Onion: Stir in the panko bread crumbs and chopped green onions evenly to add texture and freshness.
- Serve and Garnish: Transfer the dip to a serving platter and garnish with additional chopped green onions. For best flavor, serve chilled with crackers or cucumber slices.
Notes
- Ensure shrimp is fully cooled before mixing to prevent the mayonnaise-based sauce from separating.
- Adjust the amount of sriracha based on your preferred spice level.
- Panko breadcrumbs add a pleasant crunch, but can be omitted for a smoother dip.
- This dip is best served chilled to enhance the flavors.
- Can be made a few hours ahead and refrigerated.
