Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can Diced Tomatoes (with juice, do not drain)
  • 1/4 small Red Onion (about 1/3 cup, coarsely chopped)
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Cilantro
  • 1 Lime (zested and juiced)
  • 1 Jalapeno Pepper (or Serrano Pepper, seeded and coarsely chopped)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (coarsely chopped)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • Sea Salt (to taste)
  • Black Pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Place the diced tomatoes (with their juice), coarsely chopped red onion, fresh cilantro, lime zest and juice, seeded jalapeno, chopped garlic, ground cumin, sea salt, and black pepper into a food processor or blender. If using an immersion stick blender, transfer the ingredients to a tall-sided container to prevent splashing.
  2. Blend to Desired Texture: Pulse or blend the mixture just until all ingredients are combined and reach your preferred salsa texture. Avoid over-blending to maintain some chunkiness and freshness.
  3. Serve or Store: Serve the salsa immediately for the freshest taste or transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate. The salsa can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • Adjust the heat level by adding more or fewer jalapenos or substituting with milder peppers.
  • For a smoky flavor, consider adding a small amount of chipotle in adobo sauce.
  • The salsa thickens slightly when chilled—stir before serving if needed.
  • Use fresh lime juice for best flavor results.
  • Perfect as a dip with chips or as a topping on tacos, grilled meats, or salads.
