5.1 from 11 reviews

This Cherry Amaretto Tiramisu is a delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, blending rich mascarpone, coffee-soaked ladyfingers, and sweet cherry preserves with the warm, nutty flavor of amaretto liqueur. Perfect for a special occasion or an indulgent treat, it combines creamy texture and fruity undertones with a hint of cocoa for a beautifully layered finish.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Ladyfinger Layer

  • 20 ladyfingers

Cheese and Cherry Mixture

  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup cherry preserves

Coffee Soaking Mixture

  • 1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled
  • 3 tablespoons amaretto liqueur

To Finish

  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare Coffee Mixture: Brew strong coffee or espresso and allow it to cool to room temperature. Stir in the amaretto liqueur until combined, creating a flavorful soaking liquid for the ladyfingers.
  2. Mix Mascarpone and Cherry Preserves: In a medium bowl, blend the mascarpone cheese with cherry preserves until smooth and evenly mixed, ensuring a creamy and slightly fruity filling.
  3. Dip Ladyfingers: Briefly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture. Make sure to soak them quickly to prevent sogginess while absorbing the rich flavor.
  4. First Layer: Arrange half of the soaked ladyfingers neatly in the bottom of a baking dish to form the first layer.
  5. Apply Mascarpone Mixture: Spread half of the mascarpone and cherry mixture evenly over the ladyfinger layer to create a smooth, creamy topping.
  6. Repeat Layers: Repeat the process by dipping the remaining ladyfingers and laying them over the mascarpone layer, then spreading the remaining mascarpone mixture on top.
  7. Chill the Dessert: Cover the assembled tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. This chilling allows the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
  8. Serve and Garnish: Before serving, dust the top generously with unsweetened cocoa powder for a rich, slightly bitter contrast that enhances the sweetness and balance of the dessert.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the amaretto liqueur with almond extract (use 1 teaspoon) mixed with coffee.
  • Use freshly brewed, strong coffee or espresso for the best depth of flavor.
  • Do not soak the ladyfingers for too long to avoid a mushy dessert; a quick dip is sufficient.
  • Chilling overnight improves the texture and flavor integration.
  • Optional: Garnish with fresh cherries or toasted almonds for added texture and visual appeal.
