Million Dollar Ravioli Casserole is a rich and comforting Italian-inspired baked dish featuring layers of cheesy ravioli, seasoned ground beef, creamy ricotta sauce, and a blend of mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, all baked to bubbly perfection. Perfect for a hearty family dinner or special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Ravioli

  • 1 package (25 oz) frozen cheese ravioli

Meat and Seasoning

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Sauces and Cheeses

  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare Ravioli: Cook the frozen cheese ravioli according to the package directions until al dente. Drain thoroughly and set aside to prevent excess moisture in the casserole.
  3. Brown the Beef: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, breaking up chunks as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Mix Ricotta Layer: In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, sour cream, and Italian seasoning. Stir well to create a creamy, flavorful mixture that will add richness to the casserole.
  5. Assemble the Casserole: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Layer half of the cooked ravioli over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture on top, followed by half of the browned ground beef. Spoon additional marinara sauce over the beef, then sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Repeat these layers once more, finishing with cheeses on top.
  6. Bake: Cover the casserole tightly with aluminum foil to keep moisture in. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for another 10 minutes, or until the cheese on top is golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Rest and Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and allow it to rest for 10 minutes. This helps the layers set and makes serving easier. Serve warm for a delicious, comforting meal.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add crushed red pepper flakes to the ground beef while cooking.
  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner protein alternative.
  • Use gluten-free ravioli to make the dish gluten-free.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
  • Fresh basil or parsley can be added as a garnish for extra flavor and presentation.
