A delightful appetizer that features creamy brie cheese wrapped in flaky puff pastry, topped with whole berry cranberry sauce and crunchy pecans. Baked to golden perfection, this Puff Pastry Wrapped Cranberry Brie is perfect for holiday gatherings and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Pastry

  • 1 Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry Sheet (thawed, about 9x9 inches)

Filling

  • 8 ounces brie cheese (whole wheel)
  • 1 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Egg Wash

  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Thaw Puff Pastry: Thaw one sheet of Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry according to package directions, usually at room temperature for about 40 minutes until pliable but still cold.
  2. Assemble Filling: Place the entire wheel of brie cheese in the center of the thawed puff pastry sheet. Spoon the whole berry cranberry sauce over the brie, then sprinkle chopped pecans evenly on top.
  3. Prepare Pastry Edges: Use a small leaf-shaped cookie cutter to cut out two decorative leaves from the corners of the puff pastry. Bring the four corners of the pastry up over the filling, pinching the seams tightly at the top to seal the brie inside. Next, bring up the sides, forming small loops and pinch those seams at the top as well. Place the leaf cutouts on top of the seams as decoration.
  4. Brush with Egg Wash: In a small bowl, beat the egg yolk together with 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash. Brush this mixture over the entire puff pastry, focusing on the seams and top surface to promote a golden brown color and help the pastry stay closed during baking.
  5. Bake: Place the wrapped brie on a parchment-paper-lined baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 400°F (205°C) oven for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed, golden, and flaky.
  6. Serve: Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly for about 5 minutes. Serve immediately while the brie is warm and melted inside.

Notes

  • For best results, keep the puff pastry chilled until assembly to prevent it from becoming too soft and sticky.
  • You can substitute the pecans with walnuts or almonds according to your preference.
  • Serve with crackers or slices of baguette to complement the creamy brie and tart cranberry sauce.
  • This appetizer is best enjoyed warm, so plan to bake shortly before serving.
