Ingredients

Scale

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter (slightly softened)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Add-ins

  • 2/3 cup Valentine’s Day M&M’s
  • 7 Oreo cookies (roughly chopped, regular stuffed, NOT double stuffed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat mat to prevent sticking and allow even baking.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a medium bowl, use a spatula to cream together the slightly softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Add Egg and Vanilla: Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and fully incorporated, ensuring there are no streaks of egg.
  4. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour, corn starch, baking soda, and salt to the wet mixture. Stir gently just until all dry ingredients are combined, being careful not to overmix to maintain cookie softness.
  5. Fold in M&M’s and Oreo Pieces: Gently fold the Valentine’s Day M&M’s and chopped Oreo cookies into the dough evenly distributed throughout.
  6. Scoop and Shape Cookies: Using a large cookie scooper (about 1/4 cup or 4 tbsp), scoop out the dough to form 10 equal-sized cookies. Place them spaced out on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake Cookies: Bake for 13 minutes. The cookies may look a little underdone or gooey in the center—that’s perfect as they will continue baking from residual heat.
  8. Shape Cookies While Warm: Right after removing the cookies from the oven, use a larger cookie cutter to gently swirl the cookies to make them perfectly round shapes.
  9. Cool Cookies: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Do not use double stuffed Oreos as the filling content can alter the dough texture.
  • Using corn starch in the dough helps make the cookies soft and chewy.
  • Cookies can appear underbaked when done, so avoid overbaking to maintain their gooey center texture.
  • Chilling the dough is optional but can help prevent spreading if desired.
  • Make sure the butter is softened but not melted for proper creaming with sugars.
