Delight in these decadent Tiramisu Truffles, a perfect bite-sized treat that combines the rich creaminess of mascarpone cheese, the bold flavor of espresso, and the smooth bitterness of dark chocolate. These no-bake truffles are easy to make, requiring just a few ingredients and a bit of chilling time, offering a sophisticated twist on the classic Italian dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Mascarpone Mixture

  • 1 cup (about 240g) mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup (about 100g) ladyfinger cookies, crushed
  • 1/2 cup (about 120ml) cooled espresso
  • 1/4 cup (about 50g) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Coating

  • 8 oz (about 225g) dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Coffee Mixture: Brew a strong cup of espresso and allow it to cool completely to room temperature, ensuring it doesn’t melt the mascarpone cheese during mixing.
  2. Make the Mascarpone Filling: In a large bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, crushed ladyfinger cookies, cooled espresso, sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly blended, creating a smooth, firm mixture.
  3. Combine Ingredients for the Truffle Mixture: Stir the filling one more time to ensure a uniform texture and refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour. This chilling step helps the mixture to firm up, making it easier to shape into truffles.
  4. Shape the Truffles: Using a cookie scoop or spoon, scoop out small portions of the chilled mixture and roll them quickly between your palms to form smooth, bite-sized balls. Place each formed truffle on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Coat the Truffles: Melt the chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water or in the microwave in short bursts. Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, using a fork to fully coat it and allowing excess chocolate to drip off before placing it back on the parchment paper.
  6. Chill the Truffles: Once all truffles are coated, refrigerate them for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate coating sets completely. Once set, optionally dust the truffles lightly with cocoa powder for an elegant finish before serving.

Notes

  • For a stronger coffee flavor, use espresso powder mixed with a small amount of hot water instead of brewed espresso.
  • Ensure the espresso is fully cooled before mixing to prevent mascarpone from curdling.
  • You can substitute dark chocolate with semi-sweet chocolate if you prefer a sweeter coating.
  • Store tiramisu truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Bring the truffles to room temperature for 10-15 minutes before serving for the best flavor and texture.
